WHO WE ARE

Born from a heart of service to others, Founder Shawana Brooks Hampton organized the first informal Lending an Extra Hand basket drive in 2008 with the help of family and friends in Powder Springs, GA. Through the generous donations, Shawana was able to donate numerous baskets to various organizations and individuals. The success of this event inspired Shawana to continue her efforts even after moving to Texas. With the goal of expanding the service in the community, Shawana founded Lending An Extra Hand in 2019 as a non-profit organization.

LAEH has a heart for people. Our mission’s focus is primarily families in need of everyday necessities coupled with educational access to health and wellness outlets. We aim to be the conduit to merge and engage community-based agencies with neighboring volunteers, to come together, and improve the needs of others throughout the year.
